PARLIAMENT
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, October 17. The House of Representatives met at 2.30 p.m. The Hon. C. E. Macmillan gave notice of his intention to introduce the Noxious Weeds Amendment Bill, the Rent Restriction Bill and the River Boards Amendment Bill. The Counties Amendment Bill was introduced and read a first time. The Hon. J. A. Young introduced the Cinematograph Films Amendment Bill.
Mr M. J. Savage, Leader of the Opposition, asked what the Government intended to do with the Bill. Rumour had it that it did not intend to put the Bill through. Mr Young suggested that Mr Savage should not listen to rumour. It was his honest opinion that an endeavour would be made to put the Bill through in the present session.
The Bill was read a first time and a second time pro forma, and referred to the Industries and Commerce Committee.
