ADDRESSES BY EXPERTS
. FAIR TREATMENT WANTED By Telegrapb—Press Association WELLINGTON. October 17. In the Legislative Council to-day. the Hon. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes moved that in the opinion of the Council when arrangements were made for addresses by experts or specialists from overseas before a committee of the House, the Council should be afforded an opportunity for similar arrangements. He said that an expert on foot and mouth disease had recently addressed the Agricultural and Pastoral Committee of the House, and he thought that addresses of that nature should be given to the committees of both Houses sitting as a joint body. The motion was supported by several speakers. The Hon. R. Masters said that the address in question had been arranged hurriedly, but he thought it would be possible to have a similar talk given to the Council Committee. He suggested that arrangements for visitors to address the members of both Houses should be arranged by the Empire Parliamentary Association. Sir Heaton Rhodes said the motion had been designed to bring the matter under the notice of the Council, and he thereupon withdrew it.
