“THOSE MISERABLE CRICKETERS”
To the Editor of " The Timaru Herald ” Sir, —Can, “Not So Miserable” inform me why the tennis clubs do not supply their members with racquets and balls? Every cricketer should supply his own bat. Why not? The writer has played cricket for over forty 3'ears, and never used a club bat, for the reason that a batsman gets used to a certain weight and balance of bat, and he is altogether lost if he changes. I always considered the. man that supplied his own bat. was a cricketer, the one that did not was only a half hearted one. In fact, he would expect to play -without paying his subscription. I maintain that a man who is not prepared to pay for his sport, is a hindrance to his club, and as I once heard said, “a deadhead is no good to any club.”—l am. etc., HAS BEEN. October 17.
