TENNIS CLUB At the monthly meeting of the committee of the Orari Tennis Club Mr R. Earl presided. There w r ere also present—Misses M. Dixon, K. Muff. M. Stevens, Messrs J. Reid, R. Payne, and A. Henderson, and Mrs W. Watson (secretary). A motion of sympathy with the relatives of Mr J. L. White was passed. The secretary reported on the work that had been done on the courts, and the improvements effected. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr F. L. M. Macdonald for her donation to the club funds. It was resolved to enter two teams in the Temuka Town and Country Tennis Association’s competition. WEATHER RECORDS During September 2.58 inches of rain fell, as compared with 1.45 inches last year. Only in 1930 has September had a heavier fall, when 3.42 inches were recorded. Rain fell on nine days during the month, and the sun shone on 19 days. A total of 24.07 inches of rain has been recorded so far this year, whereas only 15.37 inches fell over the same period last year. The highest temperature for the month was 75 degrees (73 degrees last year), w’hile the lowest temperature was 43 degrees (47 degrees last year). Six frosts were recorded during the month .the severest being of six degrees.
