RISE IN WHOLESALE PRICES
SLIGHT INCREASE SHOWN IN BRITAIN British Official Wireless (Received September 13, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, September 12. The average of wholesale prices in August showed a rise of 2.1 per cent compared with July and 3.1 per cent, over August of last year, the respective index numbers being 88.5, 86.7 and 85.8. Food prices increased by 61 per cent, from the previous month, and the index for the cereal group was the highest recorded since August, 1930. Industrial materials, however, continued the downward trend which began in March.
