Black Duke a Winner over Hurdles. Adult was withdrawn from the Studholme Hurdles, and in a field of seven Black Duke 148 was entrusted with twice as much money as Starshooter or Mount Boa, each of these showing 72 units. Starshooter led Night Parade, Coll and Black Duke over the first hurdle, and turning into the straight the first time the order was Starshooter, Mount Boa. and Night Parade, Coll having run off. Starshooter was clear of Night Parade, Mount Boa and Gallivanter, with Black Duke handy. Sunward had dropped right back and Coll had been pulled up. Night Parade led along the back from Starshooter and Gallivanter and at the top Night Parade was just in front of Starshooter and Mount Boa, with Black Duke next. Night Parade led Starshooter, Mount Boa and Black Duke into the straight, but after clearing the last hurdle Black Duke drew away to win by three lengths from Sunward, who put in a great run and beat Night Parade for second money byhalf a length. Mount Boa was close up fourth, with Starshooter next.
