WAIMATE
FIRE IN DWELLING. Shortly before 4,30 yesterday morning a call was received at the Waimate Volunteer Fire Brigade Station, and the Brigade under Captain H. Willetts turned out smartly and proceeded to the residence of Mr Ben Betten at Parsonage Road, where it was found that the kitchenette and adjoining sitting room were a mass of flames. A good pressure of water assisted the firemen to effect an excellent save and the outbreak was quickly under control. Insurances on the house are stated to amount of £6OO, but the contents were uninsured.
