MOTORISTS MEET

AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION. The Executive of the Automobile Association, South Canterbury, met last night. Present: Messrs J. M. Jenkins (chairman), G. A. Bridges, S. G. McClelland, J. Palliser, F. Chittock, Robt, Wilson, and F. S. Shrimpton. The Association’s delefates to the quarterly meeting of the S.I.M.U. reported on the business transacted and were accorded a vote of thanks. The recommendations of the quarterly meeting were discussed at length and details of the free road service approved. It was decided to send a letter of thanks to the C.F.C.A. for the use of a room for the conference.

The following new members were elected: S. D. Candy, Mrs J. J. Collins, W. Esler, Miss M. S, Farnsworth, J, W. Ferguson, T. A. de la Rue, F. C. Lake, W. C. Davies, J. McMeekin, D. C. Johnston, D. B. Murchison, G. G. Murray, G. T. Watt, E. R. Winter. The patrol officer (Mr F. Ow'ers) reported that since last meeting he had travelled 1144 miles. He had visited the Timaru ploughing match, where his services had been in demand pulling motorists out of the mud. He drew attention to a high macracarpa hedge on the property of Chinese gardeners at Saltwater Creek, which obscured vision at that comer. The report was adopted.
