SEQUEL TO “ BUMP SUPPER”

COLLEGE OFFICIALS IN COURT. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph— Copyright (Received July 24, 7 p.m.) LONDON, July 23. In the Police Court,, Mr Aubrey Attwater, an assistant tutor, and the Rev. Harold Wynn, Dean of Pembroke College, Cambridge, were summonsed for obstructing the police. The prosecution said that a “bump supper” was held to celebrate the College’s success at rowing, after which a man was seen at the College window throwing a bottle at a policeman, who was struck on the wrist. Other missiles followed. Mr Attwater declined to allow the policeman to enter without a warrant. He said that the police might leave the matter to the authorities. The defence contended that the police must treat the College as a private house. The Magistrates, including several Cambridge College masters, fined Mr Attwater 20/- with 25 guineas costs, and dismissed the charge against Mr Wynn. Mr Attwater is appealing.
