TRADE BALANCE IN JAPAN
EARLY ADJUSTMENT DESIRED United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received July 24, 7 p.m.) KOBE, July 24. The Foreign Office is devising a plan to adjust Japan’s commercial lopsidedness. It Is intended to regard the British Dominions as a single unit, because, whereas South Africa and New Zealand buy more than they sell to Japan, Australia and Canada are big sellers. Last year the Dominion trade was 167,000,000 yen adverse to Japan. Therefore, the Dominions collectively have no excuse for restricting Japanese imports. An endeavour is proposed to be made to equalise the South African and New Zealand trade by buying wool.
