CONSTERNATION IN INDIA. PRICELESS JEWELS STOLEN. United Press Association—Bv Electric Telegraph —Copyright (Received June 25, 9.30 p.m.) CALCUTTA, June 25. Consternation has been caused in Goa, the capital of the Portuguese possession of the same name on the western coast of India, where thieves rifled the world famous ancient Church of Bom Jesus, containing the body of Saint Francis Xavier, the apostle of the Indies, and removed valuables worth many thousands of pounds. The cask containing the saint’s remains, the cask being studded with precious stones, was untouched, but the museum filled with priceless offerings to the saint was stripped of diadems, chalices, and crowns studded with precious stones.
