The best scores returned in a men’s medal round, arranged by the Temuka Golf Club, and completed on Saturday, W A. G. Green 84-22-62; G. Low 88-20-68, W. Shand 90-19-71, A. S. Mclnnes 87-15-72, D. A. Stewart 92-20-72, M. Giles 99-25-74, H. Hitchcock 86-11-75, W. S. Harbrow 101-26-75. The best cards returned in Saturday’s ladies’ medal round were:— Mrs Dick 88-17-71. Miss E. Mcßride 111-36-75, Miss McLeod 111-36-75, Miss C. Grant 97-19-78, Miss Twentyman 108-30-78, Mrs Laurenson 98-19-79, Miss Johnston 103-24-79, Miss B. Austin 108-28-80, Miss King 110-29-81. The C Grade eclectic match resulted: Mrs Hughes 56, Miss Lee 60, Miss Manson 61, Mrs Milliken 61.
BAND CONTEST. With the intention of entering in the Canterbury Provincial Bands Association’s B and C Grade contest at Geraldine in October, the Temuka Municipal Band is practising assiduously. Evening and week-end practices are being held, the bandsmen being keen to give their very best interpretation of the test piece “Carmen No. 2.” For the quickstep own selection, the band have chosen “Challenge."
GENERAL NEWS. As a result of decisions of the Borough Council at its last meeting, workmen are now engaged in filling in and levelling the site of the old rubbish dump in Hamilton Street and levelling and forming the footpath in Godley Street.
