ORATORY CONTEST
PLUNKET MEDAL AWARDED By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, June 24. Out of eight speakers, R. J. Larkin was placed first in the annual Plunket medal contest for oratory at the Town Hall on Saturday night. A. H. Scotney was placed second, and L. R. Sceats and I. D. Campbell equal third. The contest was inaugurated in 1904 and is held under the auspices of the Victoria University College Debating Society. It consists of eight prepared speeches on some notable man or woman in history.
