An investigation of the raid by natives on the village of Mogonotei, in the Speik River district, New Guinea, early this year revealed that a man, three women and two children had been killed and decapitated, according to an official report received by the Prime Minister’s Department. A patrol officer arrested the tribesmen alleged to be responsible for the murders. One native was wounded and died. The other natives reluctantly handed over the heads of the murdered persons.
