WOMEN’S INSTITUTES
ORARI. The monthly meeting of the Orari Women’s Institute took place on Thursday "when the president Mrs Macdonald presided over a fair attendance of members. Invitations were received to attend the Arowhenua, Ealing and Woodbury birthday parties. Mrs Williams demonstrated knitting from the fleece. Competitions resulted: Three egg sponge cake, Mrs Johnstone 1, Mrs Smith 2, Mrs N. Gerard 3. Best flower in my garden, Mrs F. Hughes 1, Mrs Smith 2. Miss Brenton 3. Afternoon tea was then dispensed by the hostesses—Mesdames Broad, Black, Cone and Misses Grinsy. A game of corner charades caused much amusement.
