THE WEATHER
Mr F. L. Wooles. Wind—Moderate to fresh north-east to northly. Weather—Fair and mild. Dominion Meteorologist. General Situation. —An anti-cyclone new covers New Zealand, with its centre to the north. Winds.—Light to moderate variable with south-westerly prevailing north of New Plymouth and Napier, and westerly thence southwards. Seas (New Zealand waters) —Rather rough but decreasing on the west coast of the North Island; elsewhere smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea. —Light variable winds in the northern portion, and moderate westerlies in the southern portion, seas smooth to moderate. Weather.—Fair to fine generally with cold night but mild day temperatures, some early morning fogs likely, especially along the east coast. Conditions in Timaru. Alternately sunny and cloudy conditions prevailed in Timaru yesterday. The sky was overcast in the morning, but later the sun made its appearance. About mid-day, however, heavy clouds banked up and rain threatened, but none fell and the sun again shone in the afternoon. Conditions were cold in the late afternoon, when a keen southerly breeze was in evidence.
