WRESTLING
MEYER BEATS SANTEN. By Telegraph—Press Association WANGANUI. May 23. The American wrestlers Fred Meyer and Charlie Santen, met in six rounds at Wanganui to-night, Meyer winning by two falls to one. The bout was interesting, although marked by spectacular punching and kicking. The first fall came in the third round when Santen threw Meyer with a flying head scissors and applied a body press. Meyer retaliated in the fifth round with a back loop slam and double arm lock, and secured his second fall in the next round with a body press after a dump. The match marked the opening of the Wanganui season, and was largely attended, the spectators being well pleased with the bout and the four amateur matches.
