A FAULTY CHIMNEY
SCHOOL DESTROYED. By Telegraph—Press Association BLENHEIM. May 22. At 4 o'clock this morning, the school at Ward, accommodating about 70 pupils, was entirely destroyed by fire. The term commenced yesterday, and it is believed the outbreak was caused by a faulty chimney. Nothing was saved. A gramophone and piano, owned by the School Committee, were insured in the State Office for £77. The Committee has applied to Wellington for desks, and intend to set up temporary classrooms, pending the reconstruction of the building.
