NOVEL CAMPAIGN
NAZI WAR ON HUMORISTS AND AND GRUMBLERS. LONDON. May 10. The Nazis have started a novel campaign against grumblers and those who are discontented with the regime, says the Berlin correspondent of the “Manchester Guardian.” Rapid descents are made on cafes and restaurants, where the orchestras are silenced for five minutes to enable a storm-tropper to 'address the guests. It is claimed that the short spell of Nazi oratory does not interfere with the guests’ amenities, while “for those who have ears to hear much good is done.” Unrelenting warfare also is to be waged against witticisms and humorous stories at the expense of the Nazis. There are hundreds of these sayings In circulation, and how the Nazis intend to stop them is not very obvious because naturally they are verbal and ever written.
