MEETING OF SCHOOL i OMMITTEE Before commencing the business at the monthly meeting of the District High School Committee the chairman (Mr W. B. Oborn) referred to the death of Mr H. Wooffindin, for many years a keen supporter of all things pertaining to the welfare of the school. It was with regret, he said, that members heard of Mr Woofßndin’s death. The school had lost a friend and a vote of sympathy with Mrs Wooffindin and family in their loss was carried in silence In his report the headmaster said that the attendance had been satisfactory. Last month the school was visited by Inspectors Clark and Poison. The dental nurse had taken up her duties in the new clinic. At the Anzac ceremony Mrs Low and Dr Benham addressed the pupils. Mrs Taylor made the school Anzac wreath in which poppies bought by the pupils were worked. The school had been thoroughly cleaned and scrubbed during the holidays. Correspondence from the W.D.F.U. regarding milk for school children was discussed and it was left to the headmaster to ascertain the views of parents. Messrs Oborn and Rendall were appointed to represent the school on the Farm School Committee. The chairman reported that Mr Spencer (chairman) and Messrs Armitage and Smith, members of the Education Board along with the assistant architect (Mr Bignall) had paid a visit of inspection to the school. A meeting of all schools connected with the Pleasant Point sub-base was held on Thursday evening, when the following schools were represented: Convent (Mr Dossett), Pleasant Point (Messrs Oborn and Halkett), Cave (MiLittle) and Waitohi (Mr Watson and Mrs Gardner). The following committee was elected, Mr Dossett (Convent). Mr Watson (Waitohi), Mr Little (Cave) and Messrs Oborn and Halkett (Pleasant Point). Mr Oborn was appointed chairman, Mr Dossett treasurer and Mr Halkett secretary. The secretary was instructed to write to the unrepresented schools, notifying that a further meeting would be held in June and requesting that a representative be appointed. Authority was given the chairman to procure a heater.
