DOMESTIC DISCORD
WRITER SEEKS DIVORCE F!H)M AUTHOR’S DAUGHTER LOS ANGELES, May 13. Alleging that she handicapped his literary efforts, Mr Charles Malamuth has filed a divorce suit against Joan Malamuth, the daughter of the late Jack London, the famous author. Mr Malamuth, who is a playwright and a former professor at the University of California, bases his complaint on grounds of mental cruelty and desertion. He accuses his wife of doing such things as playing “ribald jazz tunes” on the radio while he was attempting to write “tragic scenes,” and of playingsombre music like Bach’s Fugues when he felt in a “gay mood” and needed light entertainment.
