W.E.A. CLASS MEETS TOLSTOI’S WORKS DISCUSSED The weekly meeting of the feel Forest Branch of the W.E.A. was held in the library. The play, “Where love is. God is,” by Tolstoi, was read, followed by a discussion on Tolstoi’s life. Short stories were read by Mrs T,. .T. Heney and Mr D. G. Rutherford. There was a good attendance. Miss O. Stinson acted as leader. ST. BARNABAS GUILD. The monthly meeting of the St. Barnabas Guild was held in the Sunday School on Thursday afternoon. Mrs. G. Dennistoun presided. The following members and visitors were also present—Mesdames Pyne, J. M. H. Tripp, W. E. Barker, J. Cain, T. Stinson, C. Wooding, F. Popplewell, Y. Robinson, D. Rutherford, G. Wooding, S. U’Pritchard, T. Smith, O. Keen, W. Macphail, P. Scott, C. Chisnall, W. Esplin, J. Charles, L. Timpson, H. J. Rees, Misses O. Barker, J. Wright, O. Stinson, G. Wright, M. Rutherford, M. Macphail, R. Barker, E. Rutherford, V. Kelland, W. Johnstone and Burrows. After the business had been transacted, Canon J. F. Coursey, took the chair and introduced Miss Stevens, who gave a lecture on China, particularly on St. Faith’s Girls’ School. At the conclusion of the address, Mrs J. M. H. Tripp moved a vote of thanks to the speaker, which was carried by acclamation. Mrs Tripp also wished Miss Stevens every success in her future work in China. Afternoon tea was dispensed by Mesdames J. M. H. Tripp, D. G. Rutherford, and the Misses G. and J. Wright. MINIATURE RIFLES. The Peel Forest Miniature Rifle Club held its opening shoot of the season on Friday night. There was a good attendance. The following were the best scores off the rifle: F. Cain 76, W. Jenkins 75, E. Foden 74, J. Jenkins 74, D. Rutherford 74, W. Macphail 71, W. Thomas 70, Y. Robinson 70, and J. Rees 70. F. Cain holds the Hotty button for the week. GOLF. On Saturday afternoon at Peel Forest the members of the Peel Forest Homestead Golf Club played a friendly match against a team from the Geraldine Club.
