ALLANDALE INSTITUTE. At the monthly meeting of the Allandale Women’s Institute, the president, Mrs Wareing presided over a good attendance of members. In a letter from the Mackenzie County A. and P. Society, mention was made of the Women's Institute Exhibition to be held in June at Timaru, members being urged to help in any way possible. There was a short discussion on some of the remits for Conference. Mrs J. Hall gave a comprehensive report on the Federation meeting and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Mr D. O’Reilly judged the potatoes grown by members and also gave a short talk on the merits of the exhibitits. Mrs Jerry O’neill proved the winner with 351 b of potatoes. The winners of the competitions were:—Six pikelets, Mrs Crampton 1, Miss P. Ellis 2; six pieces shortbread, Mrs Scarlett 1, Mrs T. Crampton 2. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Rogers, Scarlett, F. Crampton and J. Hall. The singing of the National Anthem brought the meeting to a close.
