Miss Holm defeated Miss Pentony, 4 up and 3. Miss Bartons victims, in chronological order before the semi-final were: Miss Powell Williams, 2 up and 1; Miss Gungbury, 2 up and 1; Miss Barrow, 8 up and 6; Miss Diana Plumpton, 3 up and 2. Mrs Holm’s victims were: Miss Oliver Kay (New Zealand), 6 up and 5; Miss Pyman, 3 up and 2; Mrs Greenlees, one up, and Miss Wade, at the twentieth. The. 17-year-old Londoner, Miss Barton, is the youngest finalist. The semi-final was played in a gale, but Miss Barton’s ball control was amazing. Miss Corlett, the ex -Lancashire champion, has twice her experience. Miss Barton was one down at the turn, but fought back splendidly. Miss Holm is the ex-Scottish champion.
