ARREST OF ENGLISH VISITORS
EXCESSES OF GERMAN “STORM TROOPERS.” United Press Association—By Electric Tel egraph—Copyright (Received May 17, 5.5 p.m.) BERLIN, May 16. Storm troopers arrested Mr Pembroke Stephens, the “Daily Express’ ” correspondent, his wife and his wife’s cousin, Mr G. P. Reynolds, near Dessau. Mr Stephens was motor touring in search of details of Germany’s economic condition. . The party were arrested after he had inquired the reason for industrial activity at Aken Forest. The police questioned the trio for several hours and locked them in separate rooms under guard. Eventually they handed them over to the secret police at Magdeburg. The British Consul is investigating. A later message states that Mr Stephens and party were released.
