Messrs F. Ellen. R. W. Morgan, T. Merry (Christchurch) and C. W. Adamson (Dunedin) are guests at the Grosvenor.
Messrs A. E. Alexander, W. Drake, M. Evans (Christchurch) and J. J. Beard (Dunedin) are staying at the Empire. The Rev. P. Gladstone Hughes, 8.A., will leave England by the Rotorua on August 2 on his return to New Zealand, and is due to arrive in Wellington on September 20. An official wireless message from Rugby announces that the Prime Minister (Mr Ramsay Macdonald) leaves London to-day by aeroplane for Lossiemouth, where he will spend the Whitsuntide recess.
At Wednesday's meeting of the Pleasant Point Branch of the Farmers' Union the President Mr C. Ley. moved a motion of sympathy with the relatives of Mr H. Wooffindin. Mr Wooffindin. he said had been a staunch supporter of the branch, an excellent farmer, and a man of upright character. The motion was carried in silence.
