It is claimed for the Flinders Street Railway Station in Melbourne that more people pass through it in one day than through any other station in the world. Mr J. Liggins, chairman of the Waimairi County Council, who recently returned from a visit to Australia, believes there are grounds for this claim. He stated recently that when he was in Melbourne a tally was taken of the people passing in and'Tmt of the building, the figure being 289,000.
