MAY HAVE TO REVERT TO COAL
TROUBLE IN TROJAN STAR NOT OVERCOME.
By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, May 17. Attempts to mix Diesel fuel oil with congealed bunker oil of the Blue Star Line steamer Trojan Star continued to-day The vessel’s oil, however, was so thick that these attempts have not succeeded in liquefying the oil enough for the pumps to handle it in sufficient quantities to supply the furnaces at anything like normal pressure. It is now thought that the Trojan Star may be forced to discharge a portion of her general cargo to take in coal in the bunkers, and after connecting her furnaces back to coal make the trip Home as a coal burner. After discharge in England the congealed oil will have to be practically dug out of her unless some chemical method can be used to liquefy the oil and enable it to be pumped out. The date of her departure from Wellington is still indefinite.
