Every morning between say 8.30 and 9.30 many thousands of Maorilanders are doing precisely the same thing—enjoying their after-breakfast smoke. Where does all the tobacco come from? Much comes from overseas, of course. But you’d be astonished if you knew what a lot is now grown and manufactured within the Dominion. This “toasted New Zealand,” as it is popularly known, is used in preference to any other tobacco by a multitude of smokers. And the demand is constantly increasing. “The reason why” is simply this: the five famous brands, Navy Out No. 3 (Bulldog), Cavendish, Riverhead Gold; Cut Plug No. 10 (Bullshead), and Desert Gold, are not only of the very finest quality, with a flavour and aroma keenly appreciated by smokers, but are practically free from nicotine, which means—mark this —that they do not cause smokers' throat, irritation, cough, nerve, or heart trouble. Many find that after smoking a couple of pipes they have to stop. Can’t manage more at a time. But you can smoke as many pipes of “toasted" as you please. It’s harmless
