The Newmarker May meeting was continued to-day when the Newmarket Stakes gave a number of Derby candidates the chance for a test in public over a mile and a quarter. The result was:— NEWMARKET STAKES. Of 30 sovs each, with 1000 sovs added. Second horse to receive 10 per cent, and third horse 5 per cent, of the whole stakes. For three-year-olds. Special weights. One mile and a quarter. Windsor Lad, H.H. Maharajah of of Rajpipia’s be, by Blandford— Resplendent, 9.0 l Flamenco, Lord Rosebery’s be, by Flamingo—Valescure, 9.0 .... 2 Valerius, Sir A. Bailey’s br c. by Son-In-Law—Haintonette, 9.0 .. 3 Eleven horses started. Won by a length, with three lengths between second and third.
