Mr Waiter Baxter (Christchurch) is visiting Timaru. He is at the Grosvenor. Messrs C. S. Peate, W. H. Nicholson. H. D. Acland, J. Ainger, G. L. Berry (Christchurch), N. D. McKenzie and F. Robb (Wellington) are guests at the Grosvenor.

Messrs F. J. Sherwood (Dunedin), R. McGiliivray, W. R. Walker, W. R. Coles (Christchurch) and R. Whittaker (Wellington) are registered at the Empire. Recent arrivals at the Dominion include: Messrs G. S. Amos (Wellington), A. E. Mills, H. L. Gibson, C. D. McKenzie (Dunedin). A. C Booth, R. G. Pilkington and J. Kennedy (Christchurch).

Sympathy with Mr Walter Raymond, in his serious illness, was expressed at last night’s annual meeting of the Chamber of Commerce. The retiring president (Mr A. P. Greenfield) said that Mr Raymond’s illness had prevented him from accepting office this year as a member of the Council of the Chamber. The Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes) paid a flying visit to his home at Cheviot on Tuesday. He arrived from Wellington in the morning and left again for the north at night. Mr Forbes will visit Taranaki this week to meet dairy farmers and to attend the jubilees of the town of Eltham and the New Plymouth Boys’ High School. He will also stay at Stratford and Hawera. About the end of the month he will go to Hamilton to open the winter show there.

Pastor Garfield Todd, minister of the Church of Christ, Oamaru. will leave for Southern Rhodesia at the end of this month to fulfil an appointment made by the Foreign Mission Board of the New Zealand Churches of Christ. Mr Todd wus educated at the Southland Boys' High School and the Otago University, and is a graduate of the Church of Christ College at Glen Leith (Dunedin). He will address a united meeting at the Moorhouse Avenue Church to-day, and will preach there on Sunday morning.
