SOUTH CANTERBURY HUNT

MEET AT AROWHENLA. (Contributed.) For many years the Arowhenua meet has brought followers from other districts than Timaru, and Saturday was no exception. It was especially noticeable that owing to school holidays there were a number of keen and promising young followers, who held their : own over the formidable and tricky country. Hounds were thrown off in Mr Brosnahan’s and a hare was soon afoot. Keeping in Mr Brosnahan’s, she ran through two fields before scent failed. After a short check hounds picked up the line again, where the hare doubled back, crossing the road. She ran into Messrs Hall and Topham’s, where she again turned running through Mr Hall’s farmyard and down the road towards the river where she was lost. After another short sharp burst in Messrs Robinson’s and Topham’s the Master called a halt for lunch. Not much time was wasted; girths were tightened again and the followers were soon in their saddles. A jog down the road brought the field into Mr Robinson’s. Here a strong plains hare was found which carried the field to the main Temuka road, instead of turning to the river she doubled back on her tracks for some distance before crossing into Mr Brosnahan’s. After running through several fields she was pulled down near his homestead. This brought the day to a close. Those out were:—The Master (Mr C. L. Orbell) on Richard, the Huntsman (J.
