ODDFELLOWS LODGE
OFFICERS ENTERTAINED In the Caroline Bay Tea Rooms on Monday a social was held in honour of the Grand Master, Bro. A. Guy (Auckland), Deputy-Grand Master, Bro. H. J. Clark (Timaru), and Grand War-' den, Bro. G. Rudken (Wellington) of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand, 1.0.0. F. The first portion of the evening was given up to dancing. During supper the following toasts were honoured:— “The King,” proposed by D.D.G.M., Bro. L. Read, who also proposed “Grand Lodge,” responded to by the Grand Lodge officers and Past Grand Master, Bro. D. Smillie. The Grand Master stated that the lodges’ unemployed relief fund had been successfully financed for a further period. He expressed his opinion that more good had been done at the session just concluded than any held since his first office of Grand Lodge representative. Grand Warden, Bro. G. Rudken, proposed the toast of the “Retiring D.D.G.M.” Bro. L. Read, at the same time presenting him with a P.D.D.G.M’s. jewel. Grand Master Bro. A. Guy proposed the “D.D.G.M.Elect,” Bro. R. Clark, whereupon the Grand Marshal, Bro. C. Johnson, read the commission to Bro. R. Clark, who was duly installed as D.D.G.M. Past Grand Master, Bro. J. Talbot, proposed the “visitors,” which was responded to by the N.G's. of Te Waimate, Waihi, Waited, Sunshine Rebekeh, Loyal Waimnte, Alexandrovana, Victoria, and Star of Canterbury, visitors representing Canterbury, South and West District and Grand Lodge representatives accon* 4 - lying the executive.
After supper the dance 'was continued until the early hours, when the singing of Auld Lang Syne concluded a most enjoyable evening. During the evening items were contributed by Sister Buchanan, Miss Smith and Bro. Granger, of Waimate.
