Miss F. Bennett (Wellington) is staying at the Empire. Mr and Mrs Clue-Perrins (Christchurch) are at the Empire.

Mr and Mrs Hamilton Smith (Wellington) are staying at the Dominion. Mrs E. P. Chapman, Salisbury, has left on a visit to Lake Te Anau. Miss Mary Lysaght, Geraldine, has returned from a visit to Springston.

Mrs Marshall, Christchurch, arrived yesterday to stay with Mrs Colin Marshall, Hewlings Street. Dr. and Mrs R. D. King, Sophia Street, will leave to-day on a visit to England.

Mrs Charles Macfarlane, “Mt. Paul,” Waiau, arrived yesterday to stay with Mrs G. H. R. Ulrich, Wai-iti Road. Mr and Mrs and the Misses Vanse, Auckland, are on a visit to The Hermitage, Mt. Cook. Mrs W. N. Bond, “Dunrobin,” Southland, will arrive to-morrow to stay with Miss Elworthy, “Pareora Cottage,” LeCren’s Terrace. Mrs Gladstone Robinson, “OakwDod,” who is staying with Mrs R. H. HunterWeston, ‘‘Mt. John,” Tekapo, is expected home to-day. Mrs Frank Reid, Blenheim, and Miss G. Trolove, ‘‘The Shades,” Marlborough, who have been paying a short visit to Christchurch and Timaru, returned home yesterday. Mrs E. G. Kerr, “Ardgour,” Sealy Street,” will leave at the end of the week to stay with Miss Halmai Loughnan, Christchurch, for the Easter golf tournament.

Miss Knight, who has been on a tour of New Zealand, and is writing a book on the subject, left last week by the Mariposa for Sydney en route to Tientsin, China. The engagement is . announced of Margaret Jaumaud. younger daughter of Mr and Mrs C. J. LeCren, Grey Road, and Cyril Ronald, son of Mr and Mrs H. A. Raines, Wilson Street. The marriage arranged between Bernard Hunter Jameson, eldest son of Mr and Mrs H. J. M. Thoms, Crescent House, Dundee, and Cynthia Mary Richmond, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs C. Richmond Fell, Chingford, Nelson, New Zealand, will take place at the Church of St. Mary-at-the-Walls, Colchester, on April 7. Mrs Tolhurst and Miss Shirley Tolhurst (Melbourne) are the guests of Mrs G. D. Mcllraith, Fendalton, for a few days. Mrs Tolhurst is the mother of Mrs Sloan Morpeth, formerly Miss Susie Tolhurst, the well-known Australian golf champion. Miss Shirley Tolhurst is also a good golfer, and during her visit to Christchurch she will be invited to play at Shirley with some of the leading players of the Christchurch Ladies’ Golf Club.
