“NELSON TOUCH” RESTORED

LESSONS FROM MARCH MANOEUVRES NAVAL AUTHORITY’S VIEW OF OPERATIONS United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received March 16, 9.25 p.m.) LONDON, March 16. Ninety ships which were engaged in the naval manoeuvres, returned to Gibraltar, where the docks are lull of craft requiring repairs. It is significant that over 100 aircraft were present at the climax of the exercises and not one was able to engage in the manoeuvres owing to the storm. AH the old destroyers also were unable to face the elements, but the new craft did well. Mr H. C. Bywater, the naval authority, writing in "The Daily Telegraph” says: "It is clear from the manoeuvres that the Navy has retrieved the tactical principles, which not only authorise but enjoin that the admirals attack the enemy whenever and whenever found. It would seem that the Navy has reverted to the traditions of Nelson and-Hawke.”
