PUBLIC SCHOOLS OLD BOYS’ GAME RESULT A DRAW The annual match, English Public School Old Boys v Christ’s College Old Boys, which was played on the Geraldine Oval yesterday resulted in a draw. English Public Schools compiled 101 in their first innings, while Christ’s College responded with 102. Public Schools made 102 in their second innings, but a big effort against time and a failing light saw Christ’s College with only 95 for seven wickets, or 14 less than the number required to win the match, when stumps were drawn at 6 p.m. Mullins and Hodghin opened for English Public Schools, but the former was dismissed promptly. Hodghin had 18 to his credit when his wicket fell to C. Harper. Kerr 25, and C. Cresswell 21, were the other batsmen to reach double figures. C. Harper secured the bowling honours. In their second innings Kerr, who was bowled by P. Harper at 43. and Sinclair-Thomson. whose wicket fell to Hargreaves at 25, made useful stands. Cresswell’s wicket fell to P. Harper at 12. The other wickets fell cheaply, P. Harper with the splendid average of six for 14. taking the honours. In Cnrist’s College Old Boys’ first innings, D. Unwin’s wicket fell to Kerr at three. Robinson 21, P. Harper 37, S. Vincent 16. made useful scores. There was a bad “tail”. Kerr captured four, wickets for 32. and Mullins took four for four. In the second innings Unwin, who went out l.b.w. to Kenredeemed himself with 23. Robinson had 19 to his credit when he was caught by Kerr off Hope and P.
