Miss Joyce Gilmour, Invercargill, is on a visit to Christchurch. Mr and Mrs C. Hallum, Waikouaiti, are staying at the Empire. Miss Agnes Buchanan, Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs Westmacott, Nile Street. Mr and Mrs Frank Lawrence, Cashmere Hills, Christchurch, are spending a short holiday in Timaru. Mrs Holmes, England, arrived yesterday on a visit to her sister, Mrs N. M. Or bell, Bid will Street. Mr and Mrs G. D. Virtue and their children, Elizabeth Street, have returned from a holiday at Waiho Forks. Miss Ulrich, who was the guest of Mrs F. F. A. Ulrich, Elizabeth Street, returned to Dunedin yesterday. Miss Helen Macdonald, Waimate, is the guest of Mrs Aubrey Stephens, Dunedin. Dr. Teresa Craig, of the Palmerston North Hospital, has accepted a position at the Grey mouth Hospital. Miss Neroli Smithson who was the guest of Mrs F. A. Scanned, Temuka, has returned to Christchurch. Mr and Mrs D. Cosgrove, Harper Street, are on a motoring tour of the South Island. Miss Margaret Porritt, Craighead Street, left yesterday to stay with Mrs Livingstone, Dunedin. Mrs J. Page, Mt. Gerald, is staying with her mother, Mrs R. A. Rickman, Grey Road. Mrs Carey-Hill, England, who recently arrived in New Zealand, is on a tour and will visit the various branches of the Victoria League. Mr and Mrs Cummins Butler. England, and Dr. and Mrs P. J. Whetter, Christchurch, are guests at the Grosvenor. Mrs Stone-Wigg, Waihi School, Winchester, who has been spending the holidays in Hawera, is expected home to-day. Miss Marie Purchase, Wellington, who was staying with Mrs A. Jones, Beverley Road, left yesterday to stay with her aunt, Mrs W. Thomas, at Peel Forest. Mr Sidney Thompson, the wellknown New Zealand artist, and Mrs Thompson, who have been living for some years in the south of France, will arrive in Christchurch next week. Mrs W. A. Moore, Wai-iti Road, will leave to-day for Christchurch, accompanied by Miss Edith Moore, Melbourne, who has been spending a few days with her. The engagement is announced of Helen Margaret, second daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Coup, Esk Valley, St. Andrews, and Raymond Arthur, eldest son of Mr and Mrs H. W. Bishop, Ly alldale. Guests at The Bungalow, Wai-iti Road, include Mrs J. Murray, Mr and Mrs Minty, Mrs and Miss Henry, ] Misses Chamberlain (2), Mrs Campion, Miss Smith, Mrs Denton, Mrs Cooke, Mrs Nicholls, Christchurch.
