BUOYANT WOOL MARKETS

CONFIDENT FORECAST BY EXPERTS FUTURE PROSPECTS WELL ASSURED United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, December 24. Mr W. P. Devereux. representing the Australian Woolgrowers' Association, reports that in the wool markets the year is ending in a spirit of cheerfulness, but with the publication of the rosters of the sales and quantities likely to be available, has come an increased realisation that the shortage of available supplies will be most likely felt next year, and until September or October no relief can be experienced. This stimulates the demand for raw wools. In sympathy with the active demand and advancing values in overseas markets quotations for tops axe firmer. Some business has been done at full market rates and also some new business in crossbred yarns, which are firm. Machinery activity is well maintained. The Continental futures markets are fairly active and quotations in all positions further improved 5 per sent.
