At a special meeting of the South Canterbury Branch of the National Council of Women members and friends ! were given a most interesting address I by Mrs T. E. Taylor, of Christchurch, j Before commencing, the president j moved a motion of sympathy with Miss Tripp in her recent bereavement. Mrs Tavlor has made an intensive study of the subject of “Mental Deficiency,” : and had her audience thoroughly interested from the start. The statistics quoted and rejxirts of e\|>erts on this i question revealed some alarming facts. J and the speaker urged that women as 1 home builders, should take up the ques- j tion very thoroughly and endeavour to 1 bring about some measure of reform A vote of thanks to Mrs Taylor was proposed by Mrs Hayhurst, and carried j by acclamation.
