December 12. The death occurred suddenly a Paraparaumu last evening of Lieut. Colonel Alfred John Petherirk, who fc so many years commanded D. Batter} Wellington, and one of the most popu lar and highly respected officers In th territorial and volunteer forces in pre war days. He was the third son of th late Mr E. W. Petherick and was 6 years of age.
