ALLEGED ASSAULT
ACCUSED REFUSED BAIL. By Telegraph Press Association CHRISTCHURCH. Dec. 11 With his left arm in a sling, and his fingers bandaged, Alexander James Churton (33), labourer, appeared before the Magistrate, Mr E. D. Mosley, charged with assaulting his wife, Betty Churton, so as to cause bodily harm. He was remanded till December 19 to enable the police to make further inquiries. An application for bail was refused, the police stating that they regarded the accused as a dangerous man. He had been living apart from h*s wife. Churton and his wife were treated for knife wounds as outpatients at the hospital early yest “day morning.
