Beverley, top lady for Waikato, fainted in her match against Mrs R. P. Adams in the Taranaki-Waikato contest, Taranaki won by 15 sets to 9. Miss Beverley is regarded as a likely New Zealand champion in the next two or three years. She was the only one in the Dominion to take a set off Miss Joan Hartigan, the Australian champion, in the tour two years ago. Mr Adams, a New Zealand singles and doubles champion, formerly of Wellington, paid tribute to the remarkable form displayed by Miss Beverley before the intense pain of a blistered foot and the heat of the sun caused her to collapse.
