MRS A. BRUSTAD. Bv Tf egraoft—Pres? Association CHRISTCHURCH, November 30. The death occurred suddenly at the Amuri Hospital, Rotherham, this morning, of Mrs Mary Lucy Aroha Brustad. Mrs Brustad was better known throughout New Zealand as Miss Aroha Clifford, whose exploits as New Zealand’s first aviatrix are well I remembered. Her death followed the | birth of her son at the Amuri Hospital two days ago. i Mrs Brustad. who was 25 years of I age. was the third daughter of Mr j Walter Clifford, and the late Mrs Clif- : ford. Fendalton. She was born in j Wellington and spent part of her child- ! hood in England. On returning to • New Zealand she was sent to school at | St. Mary’s Convent. Colombo Street j North, Christchurch, receiving the whole of her education there. Her disI position was one that led her to anj swer the call of the out-of-doors, and i while in her teens she became keenly j interested in alpine climbing and winter sports, spending a great deal of time at The Hermitage, Mount Cook. Four or five years ago Mrs Brustad turned her attention to aviation, and under tuition at Christchurch she became New Zealand's first woman pilot. MRS WALTER FULLER. By Telegraph— Press Association WELLINGTON. November 30. The death is announced of Mrs Dorothy Fuller, wife of Mr Walter Fuller. and sister-in-law of Sir Benjamin and Mr John Fuller, Sydney. Mrs Fuller was an accomplished singer and musician. In her. younger days she was associated with the professional stage for some years. During her married life in Wellington she was for a time a member of the Wellington Amateur Operatic Society. She leaves two children, Jean and June Fuller.
