WEDDING

GARVEN—HIBBERT. The wedding took place at the Woodlands Street Methodist Church recently, Rev. H. Fiebig, 8.A., officiating, of Stanley William eldest son of Mr and Mrs S. Garven, of Timaru, and Constance Mary, second daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Hibbert of Yorkshire, England. The hymn “The Voice That Breathed O’er Eden," was played by a quartet from the Timaru Municipal Band of which the groom is a member. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr R. Hibbert, was attired in a beautiful ankle length gown of white satin, with white veil held in place with a coronet of orange blossom and she carried a sheaf of arum lilies. The bridesmaid was Miss Kathleen Garven, sister of the bridegroom, who wore a becoming ankle length dress of powder blue crepe de chene with hat to tone and carried a bouquet of blue anemones. The small attendant was Joyce Garven, youngest sister of the bridegroom who wore shell pink crepe de chene with a head-dress of pink and blue forget-me-nots and carried a posy of mixed flowers. Mr David Garven acted as best man. On leaving the church the bandsmen formed an archway of trombones. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Cafe Carlton where Mrs R. Hibbert, sister-in-law of the bride, and Mrs S. Garven, mother of the groom, received the guests the former wearing a navy blue and white ensemble and the latter a floral satin dress with hat to tone. After the reception Mr and Mrs Garven left for the south the bride wearing a red krinkle crepe dress relieved with white with hat to tone.
