The recently inaugurated annua] rodeo in Madison Square Garden, where the most vicious horses and cattle are imported for "broncho busting’’ and steer "dogging” in Wild West style, by volunteer entrants, showed a mounting casualty list, with the death to-day of one cowboy and more or less serious injury to three cowgirls Dock Lucas died as a result of being thrown from the back of a bucking steer, while of the three cowgirls, one is suffering from a broken leg, another a broken ankle, and the third, Internal injuries from being trampled on by a horse. They are reported to be resting easily in local hospitals. The casualties total 17 slnoe the opening of the rodeo. Stage screen stars have volunteered for service for a theatrical benefit.
