Beginning at hindquarters, cast on 17 stitches and knit 2 rows. 3rd row: Increase one stitch at both ends of needle. 4th row: Knit. Repeat last 2 rows ! once. 7th row: Cast on 16 stitches for hind j leg. Bth-19th rows: Knit. 20th row: Cast off 13 stitches, Knit to end. 21st row: Knit. 22nd row: Knit 2 together, Knit to end. 23rd row: Knit. Repeat last 2 rows twice more. 28th 47th rows: Knit. 48th row: Make 1, knit to end. 49th row: Knit. Repeat last two rows twice. 54th row: Cast on 13 stitches for foreleg and knit 12 row’s. 66th row: Cast off 18 stitches (•), then knit 2 together, knit to within ! last 2 stitches, make 1, knit 1. 67th row: Knit 1, make 1, knit to j witlun last two stitches, knit 2 to- j gether. Repeat from (*) once. 70th-85th rows: Knit. 86th row: Knit to within last 2 j stitches. Knit 2 together. 87th row: Knit. Repeat last 2 rows ! twice. 92nd row: Knit 2 together both ends of needle. Repeat last row 5 times more. Knit 2 together twice and cast off. Knit the second side. The Under Part of the Body. Ist row: Cast on 4 stitches and knit 6 rows. 7th row: Increase at each end of needle. Bth row: Knit. Repeat last two rows 3 times more. 15th and 18th rows: Cast on 16 stitches at the beginning of each of next two rows for hind legs. 17th-26th rows: Knit. 27th row: Cast off 13 stitches. 56th row: Increase at both ends of needle. 57th row: Knit. Repeat last 2 rows twice. 62nd row: Cast on 13 stitches foreleg and knit to end. 63rd row: As 62nd. 64th-73rd rows: Knit. 74th row: Cast off 18 stitches and knit to end. 75th row: Same as 74th row. 76th row: Decrease at both ends of needle. 77th row: Knit. Repeat last 2 rows once. 80th row: Knit 2 together twice. Cast off. Head Section.—lst row: Cast on 2 stitches. Knit one row. 2nd row: Knit. 3rd row: Increase 1 stitch in both stitches. 4th-Bth rows: Knit. 9th row: Increase 1 stitch at both ends of needle. 10th-14th rows: Knit. Repeat last 6 rows twice. 27th row: Knit 12 rows. 39th row: Knit 2 together at both j ends of needle. 45th row: Knit 2 rows. 47th row: Knit 2 stitches together ! twice. 48th row: Cast off. Finishes at nose. Ears.—Cast on 3 stitches and knit 1 row. 2nd row: Increase in first and last stitch. 3rd row: Knit. Repeat last 2 rows twice. Knit 1. knit 2 together, knit 1, knit 2 together. 22nd row: Knit. Cast off. Sew up side pieces beginning at neck Sew in head piece beginning at nose. Leave space for stuffing tit he underbody. Work nose and moutb with black wool
