WEST END ASSOCIATION
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. A special meeting of the executive of the West End Association, attended by representatives of most of the sports’ bodies in the district was held in the West School on Thursday evening. Mr J. E. Chiles, occupied the chair, and briefly explained the object of the meeting, which was to arrange for holding a big function in West End Park to celebrate the opening of the new croquet greens and pavilion about the beginning of December. On the motion of Messrs Stoddart and Tubb, it was decided that, in conjunction with the various sports bodies in the district, a function be held, and a large and representative general committee, consisting ot Messrs Chiles and Mayo (West End Association), Cunningham (Highfleld). Currie (Miniature Rifle Club). Elder (Swimming Club), Bradley (Cricket Club). Whitehouse (harriers), Marshall (West School committee), G. Vucetich (Bowling Club), and Mrs Chapman and Mrs Renton (Croquet Club) was appointed. It was agreed that the various bands in the town be asked to assist, and that the headmasters of the West and Walmataital Schools be approached *o see if the school children could give some assistance in the wav of a drill display. Several other matters concerning the fete were discussed and arranged. It was decided that the Boy Scouts and ex-pupils of the West School be asked to co-operate with the committee.
