UMPIRES’ ASSOCIATION The annual meeting of the South Canterbury Umpires’ Association was held on Thursday evening. Mr P. E. Islip (chairman I presided over a good attendance of members. The chairman, in thanking the members for their attendance, said he trusted that they would give their wholehearted support during the coming season. It was decided that r. letter of sympathy be forwarded to Mr B. R. Macdonald. The following officers were elected: Chairman, Mr P. E. Islip; appointment committee, Messrs P. E. Islip. D, F. McKenzie (Timaru), R. Munro (Pareora), P. Kyne (Temukai, B. R. Macdonald (Geraldine' and J. P. Jackson (Washdyke); delegates to the S.C.C.A., Messrs P. E. Islip and W. G. Gow. It was decided that the South Canterbury Cricket Association be asked to allow the Umpires’ Association to appoint umpires- for all matches. The arranging of matches with the Canterbury and Waimate Associations was left to Mr Angland. The next meeting of the Association was fixed for November 16, when an address will be given by the president of the Canterbury Umpires’ Association IMr P, D. Mansell). Arrangements regarding a lecture by Mr M. L. Page, captain of the New Zealand cricket team, were left to the secretary. The following umpires were appointed for to-day's matches:— Rectory, Messrs C. Roundhill and P. E. Islip. School Park No. I—Messrs D. Murchison. and W. K. Roundhill. School Park No. 2—Messrs J. P. Jackson and J. Ballinger.
