PROJECTED DEPARTURES.

NOTES. The Paua arrived Irom Dunedin at 6 o’clock yesterday morning, and after discharging a quantity of motor spirit, sailed early in the afternoon for Wellington. The Foxton is not now due until tomorrow from Lyttelton, to load general cargo for Wellington and Foxton, via Lytteltoni The Gale is also set down to arrive to-morrow. She is coming from the south, and will sail for Wellington and Wanganui, via Lyttelton. The Opihl is due in port to-day from Dunedin and Oamaru to load for Wellington, Nelson and New Plymouth, via Lyttelton. * Another arrival to-day should be the Holmglen from Dunedin to load general cargo for Wellington, Wanganui, New Plymouth and Waikato Heads via Lyttelton. The Holmdale is due on Wednesday next from Oamaru to load for Wellington, Picton and Wanganui via Lyttelton. The Storm is due on the same day also to load for Wellington and Wanganui, via Lyttelton. Waikouaitl Sunday. The Waikouaitl is due in port on Sunday from Dunedin. On Monday she will discharge inward cargo, and load for northern ports. Waipiata To Load. The Waipiata should be here on Tuesday from Dunedin to load for Pioton, Wellington and Auckland, via Lyttelton. Coptic Arrives. The Coptic arrived yesterday morning from Lyttelton to discharge cargo from Home. The vessel is to sail today for Wellington. Kia Ora on Monday. The National Mortgage and Agency Company advises that the Kia Ora left Sydney on Monday afternoon, and is due at Dunedin next Monday morning. She loads general cargo, and will sail early on the morning of 'October 25 for Bluff, thence Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington and Auckland. The Kia Ora is to leave the latter port on November 15 for London and West Coast ports of England. New Shaw-Savill Vessels. In each of the two 12,000-tons motor cargo liners which Harland and Wolff are building for the Shaw, Savill Line, a Clarkson exhaust gas boiler will be installed. The boiler will be designed to utilise a percentage of the gases from one of the two Harland-B. and W. pressure-charged four-stroke engines, and is 6ft in diameter with an overall height of 15ft. The evaporation when working on exhaust gases will be I,ooolb per horn-. The boiler is fitted with a combustion chamber to take oil-burning equipment, and will generate 2,0001 b per hour from oil fuel. The working pressure is 1001 b per square inch. Each unit is of the Clarkson simplex type, allowing accessibility to the water and gas space, without the need for head room or the removal of any external piping for inspection. Cargo From Los Angeles. The Wairuna left Los Angeles on October 12 with cargo from Pacific Coast ports for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff and Australian ports. She is due at Auckland on November 6. Old-Timer Reconditioned. Having served for twenty-nine years as a trawler and coastal t: 'er before being laid up in "Rotton Row” at Auckland, the Baroona, a well-known steamer, was recently reconditioned and a new motor engine fitted. Some of the equipment from the old mission steamer Southern Cross V. was used for the renovation. The Baroona was built in 1904. Cumberland for Auckland. The Federal Company has received a wireless message from the Cumberland, en route from Liverpool, repotting that she expects to reach Auckland at 6 p.m. next Tuesday. She will later complete discharge at Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. Narbada Leaves Newcastle. The Union Company has received cable advice that its chartered steamer Narbada left Newcastle on Tuesday with coal for Java, thence to Calcutta, where she will take the NovemberDecember loading, completing at Penang, Singapore and Samarang for New Zealand ports. The Abel Tasman. Alterations and re-tlttlng work on the Abel Tasman, the vessel which is I shortly to enter the Australian-New Zealand trade, have been completed, and she has left Melbourne for north-

ern New South Wales ports, where she is loading hardwood for New Zealand. On her first visit to New Zealand, the Abel Tasman will not call at the South Island. Raranga at Southampton. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company advise that the Raranga arrived at Southampton on Sunday afternoon. She left Wellington on August 26, and called at Montevideo and Teneriffe. NEW ZEALAND PORTS. BLUE STAR LINE. LONDON. October 18. The Australian Press Association learns that the Blue Star Line will enter the Australian trade in October, 1934. Details have not been settled, but this will not mean any increase In tonnage on the berth, as the Blue Star liners will replace other companies' steamers now in the trade.
