STRENGTH MAINTAINED IN FACE OF CRISIS. British Official Wireless (Received October 19, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, October 18. The underlying strength of the markets has been demonstrated in a remarkable fashion by the steadiness displayed in the London Stock Exchange during the period of political uncertainty caused by Germany’s decision. It was announced on Saturday that there has been a marked absence of large selling and no general liquidation.
